There is a good reason so many people have chosen to call the Southeast Tucson area home.  Housing, employment, shopping, and beautiful open desert are all abundant there.  The Southeast Tucson area begins around Davis Monthan Air Force Base and includes Rita Ranch, the UofA Science and Technology Park, and all the new home developments along Houghton road.  Outside of the Tucson city limits you have Vail, Corona de Tucson, the New Tucson area and lots of open space.  The towns of Benson, Sonoita and Tombstone are also close by.  The area is home to the Rincon Mountains, Saguaro National Monument and Colossal Cave Mountain Park.  

Employment:

The Southeast is a very convenient location for anyone working in the University of Arizona’s Science and Technology Park, Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson International Airport, or the Vail School District.  Downtown Tucson is an easy 20 minute drive on I-10.

Recreation

The Southeast side of town brings you to the foothills of the Rincon Mountains. This pristine mountain range goes from lush desert into a pine forest elevation of 8,590 feet.  Saguaro National Park offers scenic driving, hiking, mountain biking and camping.  Fantasy Island Trails Park is the perfect place for the mountain biking enthusiast.  If caves are of interest both Colossal Cave and the world renowned Kartchner Caverns are close by. 

Spring Training and Sidewinders baseball is at Tucson Electric Park just off I-10.  If your game is golf, the Southeast side has several options.  Del Lago Golf Club has 18 great holes as well as a country club.  There are houses all along the greens in Rancho Del Lago, allowing you to live your golf lifestyle with ease.  There is also Santa Rita Golf Club in Corona de Tucson, the Fred Enke Golf Course and the Rolling Hills Golf Course in East Tucson.

Housing:

The 1980’s saw the beginning of Rita Ranch real estate, when developers began to provide convenient housing for IBM employees.  This very popular area has seen times when it was very difficult to sell Rita Ranch real estate. However in the last few years the area has seen a housing boom.  Civano, Mesquite Ranch, Sierra Morado and Desert Willows Estates are all recent subdivision additions along South Houghton Rd.  The Houghton Road corridor will continue to expand with plans for commercial shopping areas and a hospital

Vail is a town just Southeast of Tucson.  Originally started as a ranching community by the Vail Brothers it has now grown into a booming area with many new residents and everything from mobile homes with land to high-end luxury estates.  Although it was christened as a town in 1883, it was never incorporated and to this day has no official boundaries.  Many different home subdivisions are clustered around the Rancho Del Lago Golf Course.  This rolling hill area offers spectacular views from most any home site.
